African Transkei Overview
This little mushroom is a beauty! It was the first African strain of psilocybe cubensis to enter wide circulation. The Transkei is a spectacular costal wilderness located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is home to the proud Xhosa people. This magical mushroom strain was found growing in the shade on Nguni Cattle dung.
African Transkei magic mushrooms are small to medium in size, delicate with button caps orange/brown in colour and twisting gnarly stems.
Transkei Experience
Transksei’s are a potent strain. They are know for providing epic visuals whilst going light on the spiritual side of things.
We find that these little beauties provide a light-twinkling, skin-tingling experience. Expect a wonderful body high perfect for day hikes.
This strain produces an absolute firework show: a stunning combination of tracers, lights, and geometric shapes that increase at higher doses. This strain truly has to be experienced to be appreciated.
African Transkei Dosage Guide
As far as dosage is concerned, as always we recommend you proceed with caution – 1-1.5g should be enough to familiarize yourself with the potency of the strain, give you some of the visuals described above, and help prepare you for a more intense trip. A 3.5-4.5g dosage will almost certainly result in the greatest light show you’re ever going to witness.
* Micro: 0.25 gram
* Low: 0.25 – 1 gram
* Medium: 1 – 2 gram
* Strong: 2.5 – 5 gram
* Heavy: 5 gram and upwards (Do not try this unless you are experienced with psilocybin and have done your research)
A medium to strong dose should provide you with a 4 to 6 hour trip.

Embarking on this trip, I ate 3.5 grams to continue accessing and processing lessons from a recent Ayahuasca journey. While indeed the lessons manifested, I quickly saw that this was the most visual mushroom I have ever consumed. The dimensions of the room were altered in synthesthesic synchrony with our therapeutic music playlist. The world looked like blue poetry.
While the visuals were beautiful, my experience did not match the claim so make that African Transkei minimizes the spiritual aspect of tripping. I experienced hours of difficult processing and affective purging that felt deeply important and meaningful. One way of seeing this is: If I’m going to use mushrooms for personal growth, why NOT eat a variety that also presents a beautiful visual scene as well!
This is my new favourite species.
Also important to note, I experienced a challenging come down—not something I typically get with mushrooms. While it’s quite possible this was due to an illness I had been dealing with, it is also possible that the extraordinary visionary qualities of this taxed the 5HT2A serotonin receptor harder than other species might have. My boyfriend and I split a 3.5 ounce dose. We started off by taking 1 gram each, and in 10 minutes we already started feeling silly. After 45 minutes we split 1 gram. Then we went out and enjoyed the stars together and came back inside to split the rest. We were vibing for 6 hours. There were waves of highness but not anything that triggered my anxiety. I don’t believe we took enough to really hallucinate but we were certainly high and having an amazing time.
Also worth noting, the shipping was fast, and the buying experience was easy and secure.

Fine soft stems and delicate caps. These pretty little fruits are easy to chew and go down easy. The smaller fruits seem to be abnormally potent for their size. Try one small fruit to get a feel for this strain. A 5g raw dose resulted in an initial onset of weakness and nausea, followed by strong waves of energy and deeper breath, then the information started pouring in. I fell into an ancient sounding chant, which was utilizing my vocal chords in a way that caused my entire being to resonate. My eyes watered profusely and my sinuses were completely cleared. The chanting induced closed eye visuals of: ever shifting and kaleidoscopic shaman faces; some with masks, but most with face paint. It really felt like knowledge was being communicated with this strain. Very intense experience. Give this one respect.
